40th gift
Got this for my husband's 40th birthday.
Took many late nights after the kids were put to bed, but great to look at! want more :-)

Haven't seen it constructed yet
My son is a Lego fanatic, he builds every set that he gets within a few short hours. I purchased this with hopes of keeping his busy for awhile (not to mention his fascination with the Eiffel Tower), but it has yet to be built. Maybe one day...

"All I Can Say Is: WOW!"
What a wonderful Lego set! Excellent build quality, clear directions, and the finished product is massive! After spending almost 12 hours together building this wonderful tower, my 9-year-old said: "All I can say is: Wow!"

The first part of the tower, the bottom third, is unstable during the building process, but when you connect all four "feet" of the tower, it becomes stable. (This must have been true of the real tower when they built it in the 1890s as well). The middle and top sections are very tight and stable the whole way along. The design is brilliant, divided in three parts for stability and mobility. The attention to detail is astounding; this set even has the elevators inside the tower that people who have never visited the real tower have probably never noticed.

Lego creates their products with such care and perfection. Despite having over 3500 pieces, not a single piece was missing. At one point, we thought a piece was missing that we needed to move forward with construction. We took a piece from a different Lego set that was the wrong color, intending to email Lego to have them send the right color piece out later. However, later in the process, we found the correct piece! We simply carefully exchanged pieces to make the color correct. We have built over 10 big Lego sets together and have never found them to be missing a piece.

I agree wholeheartedly with those that say you should keep the pieces organized and not dump them all in one pile. On the other hand, it's unnecessary to separate pieces by every single piece type, because Lego was smart enough to have the pieces mainly sorted by type in each bag inside the box. We just dumped all the "tiny" pieces in one box together, and had to dig for them when needed. The organization was actually quite easy for this project.

The best thing of all was hearing my daughter say to me every day as we built this project together "I really love building Legos with you, Daddy!" As others have noted in their reviews, building this tower together can be a great way for people to bond together. It is much more satisfying than a video game, and the three-dimensional aspect makes it a lot more fun than a jigsaw puzzle.

Now we are eager to visit the real Eiffel Tower. We have a renewed respect for Mr. Eiffel's amazing accomplishment and appreciation for how proud the French are of this wonderful landmark.

Well done, Lego company! Now if they would only make another landmark tower such as the Chrysler Building or the JinMao tower from Shanghai!

This project wins on every level.
3' tall is large for a Lego piece. It was taller than 2 of my kids. 8 hours of building according to the excellent directions. Lots of fun - you learn building techniques, architecture, have fun with building, and at the end you have a lot of very usable pieces for other creations. Truth be told, some of the pieces I have not used again, but that's to be expected, I think. Nothing as specialized as you'd get in many of the space sets, I just haven't built many buildings on this same scale since. Excellent investment.

Wow, this was a very inter3sting project. I'm 14 and I completed this in a day. It is huge and you will enjoy this. I guarentee. 5 stars

I bought this set with birthday money, and it was the best choice ever. This set may take a while to build, but once it's done, you'll be happy, I guarantee it. The six legs are very durable and sturdy, and Captain Rex's face has stubble on it which makes him look that much cooler. If you're not satisfied with the Troop Bay and the room behind the cockpit, they are easy to modify. After I changed mine, I could easily fit around 18 people in it total. Sometimes the hidden missile launchers are a little testy, so if that is true for you, just take the whole launcher and the stuff around it and put a thin Lego piece to create another layer. It might be hard to fit in, but you'll never have problems with it again. This AT-TE has NO cons WHATSOEVER. It may be pricey, but it's definitely worth it.

Returned for Missing Parts
Item was returned because it had been previously opened, put together, partically taken apart, and did not include any of the Lego Clone War figures that are suppose to come with the set.

However, the Amazon return system worked well.

I love it especially because of its hidden feature of automatic firing missiles and opening doors on top that reveal hidden troops inside. It comes with 2 troops and 2 jedi and opening cockpit and rotating gun turrets. It also has a handle for easy transport. It can be fastened to the Republic Drop Ship and AT-OP Walker Set. It's GREAT!!!!! I would recommend this set to any Lego Fan!!!!!!

Liked it, but was missing a crucial piece!
My son eagerly anticipated this set and the minute it was delivered he started putting it together only to discover that a pretty critical piece was missing from the set. We went online to see what Lego had to say. While Lego shipped the missing piece free of charge, there was no move to get it to us any faster than standard delivery via USPS. It took several weeks to get here. What a disappointment for a boy who had saved his allowance and gift money for weeks to get this!

lots of fun
I purchased this for my 11 year old son. He loves Legos and the bigger and more difficult they are to put together the more he enjoys them. This set he spent part of one evening and the next morning building. This is a much better way to spend his time rather than television and/or video games when you have to be inside.

Uncle Owen!!!
This set is cool, lot of pieces and took me about 4 hours to put together. My son loves it because all the different droids, like the Gonk. I heard that this is the only set that has Uncle Owen and the Jawas in it. The set is a little fragile when pushing on it, especially the base. It actually broke when I was pressing down (too hard) to connect one of the top parts. It wasn't too hard to fix, but it is a little fragile in that respect. Overall it is a nice set to have as a collector as well as a parent because my son loves playing with them. This is just a pretty unique set from lego as well as Star Wars. If you're a fan of both, I think you would enjoy this as well.

it is the most stupidest set in the world. it's bottom brakes like crazy! NEVER buy this set!! its bottom brakes when you push it so it can move!

Good set, weak bottom
My son had a great time building this. It is the best lego set we have in terms of how much fun he had building it and playing with it. The base is just a little too weak for the size of the toy. Other than that it is a great product.

Star Wars Sandcrawler
My son loves this Lego set. He is mildly autistic and was able to put this together,mostly by himself, in 2 days. He is still playing with it. Next on the list is the Death Star!:)

It's good not only Star Wars' FAN but also children.
What a way to spend 2+ hours! The final product is really great to play with and has so many different things to do.
