Editorial Review :
There’s nothing like watching small children fall in love with music. This baby grand will play Cupid to a toddler’s relationship to music. Just the right size for little fingers, with bright colors, lights, and familiar songs and learning concepts; kids will need no introduction before getting in there and starting to tickle those ivories! Three modes of play encourage children to enjoy music, learn basic concepts (alphabet, counting, opposites, etc.), or just play notes and chords on the eight-key keyboard. A plastic songbook (built into the piano) uses numerals on musical notation to teach aspiring musicians the correlation between the sounds they hear, the notes on the page, and the keys on the keyboard. Slides and buttons and dials can be manipulated to adjust tempo, pitch, and style, while a metronome keeps time. And a friendly maestro monster looms over the piano, dancing as your artiste creates composes her or his opuses. The music, as with so many children’s toys, is moderately unpleasant—nursery rhymes meet lounge jazz—but not the worst you’ll ever hear. And the joy toddlers will get out of playing their own melodies, as well as the potential for learning, far outweighs the burden of listening to cheesy tunes. Or you can just keep it in note-playing mode, and skip the pre-recorded tunes altogether! Three "C" batteries required (not included). Some adult assembly is required. --Emilie Coulter

blue keys circuit broke down
The kids had an excellent time with the piano, and even I did... but 1 months into our fun time, the blue keys stopped playing. I'm not talking about gunk stuck under the keys, or mechanical problems. The circuits seem to have a bug, where the sound is clipped. All other functions still work, but with the two blue keys out of commission, this toy becomes just yet another piece of plastic junk. I tried to take it appart and see if there was a frayed contact, but everything is sealed. Can't take it appart to fix.

Feature-wise, I wish there were more truly interactive features: I wish the fast / slow toggle could apply to any music that was played (it only plays one tune fast or slow); I also wish the "metronome" would actually beat on its own, preferably to the rhythm of the music being played. It is just a handle that the kids can move back and forth themselves.

I really liked: the "music sheet" pages that turn to change the tune in song mode, and the fact that my daughter actually used the notes to figure out some simple songs, the awareness of pace, notes, pitch. Good for a wide range of ages -- if it actually worked! Like all other "table" toys, it is of great interest to cruisers, but with only 3 legs, slightly less stable.

So.... the kids (7 months and 3 year) had a great time playing with it, and it actually started the older one on being interested in our big piano. But there are so many better options out there.

We bought this 1.5 years ago from Amazon for about . I see it selling for now... sure hope they fixed the blue key issue (many others have experienced this). Even so, I would buy a mechanical piano like Doug and Melissa's for before I went to buy this -- even at a steep discount. It's leaving my home today at a garage sale, and since the keys don;t work, it will be gone for free. Don;t spend on a toy that does not actually work...

Great gift
My son received this 3 yrs ago for Christmas. He LOVED it. Fortunately I saved it for my daughter who is 8 months old and she LOVES it even more. Yes, it's true that it can topple over on toddlers and the book can pinch little fingers but with a watchful eye and on soft carpet, the fun outweighs the accidents. She has also learned not to hang on to the piano so it doesn't topple on her.

Great toy, not annoying but it does have it's faults. Oh and I haven't seen it in stores lately that's why I'm on amazon looking for it for my baby nephew.

EXCELLENT TOY!!!!
This is one of the best toys I have bought for my son!!!! He is 1 1/2 years old, and this toy has helped him learn to count, and identify numbers and colors. Worth every penny!

Many moments of fun
I have to be honest, having received or purchased nearly all infant toys between '06 and now (and keeping them for all for both my kids), this item interests my 9 month old crawling/cruising son the most consistantly. At this age, he doesn't focus on toys for longer than a couple of minutes, but this toy he continually goes back to for more. A little unstable when the child uses it to pull themselves up, so I back it up to a wall so that rear "piano" leg doesn't come up.

Awesome!!
I bought this for my niece for her first birthday.. (last May) and she still loves it.. It keeps her busy and she loves music so any toy that makes music catch her attention first!

This is the only piano toy available online and I wanted one because my sister(nieces mum, ofcourse) loved her piano when she was little and I just wanted to continue the legacy with her daughter.. :)

I would recommend this for my friends and family!
