A must have for a kid interested in your digital camera.
I bought this camera as a gift for my son for Christmas and he loved it. The camera is durable for those kids who are rough on their toys - the sides are padded. The camera is also very easy for little ones to use. I like the places for a kid to put his/her eyes when looking at the item being photograph. Fisher Price made it easy for kids to focus the camera because a kid can use both eyes and not just one or not just the screen. The screen on this camera is for viewing a taken picture. Looking at pictures and deleting pictures is easy for a kid to do. I enjoyed the camera so much that I'm going to buy one for my niece for her birthday.

My four year old was disappointed
My four year old son received this toy for Christmas. His six year old sister received a "real" digital camera. He had seen the pictures of this toy and said that was what he wanted, but when he saw how small and blurry the little window was and how large and clear his sisters was he immediately wanted hers. We took this back the next day and got him a low priced "real" camera for not much more than this camera costs. I'm sure this camera is more durable, but for a child who has another camera to compare to this one will not be impressive. Also, the picture quality was extremely poor. This toy may be durable, but it wasn't fun.

Get the kidizoom instead!
After reading all the reviews, I chose to get my two year old (she's a very old two) the Kidizoom for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we discovered it was defective and I quickly ran to Toys R Us to get a replacement. All they had was this Fisher Price one, so we got that instead.

This week, I found the Kidizoom for an amazing price and got that one as a 'backup' camera, so I've been able to compare the two.

First of all, the "pictures" that this one takes are laughable. My cell phone takes better pictures by far. The flash is completely spastic, and you can't control when it goes off or doesn't.

When I first imported the photos, I was shocked. I'd heard the pics weren't great, but seriously? They barely register as images.

Also, the button to take pictures is in a really hard place to reach.

The only thing I can say is that it's very sturdy - so if your child is going to hurl the camera around or something ... well, maybe just don't get them a camera at all!

The Kidizoom takes clear shots and you can change all sorts of settings.

Good TOY
My kid loves this camera.
Easy to use. Looks and feels durable.
Downside: Batteries run out quickly; Not very good resolution.
I had a choice between a "toy" camera and a "real" camera. I went for this and I think within the "toy category I made the right choice. However probably my 4 year old was ready for a "real" camera.

My son loves it, but the picture quality isn't great.
My son has so much fun with this easy to use camera. He is almost 4 years old and quickly learned how to take pictures, then view them. He LOVES it! Also, the camera has an automatic shut-off i he leaves it on, which is very helpful. He also likes the sounds it makes when turning on/off and switching modes.

I am not impressed with the quality of the images it produces, but printing these pictures is not really what excites my son. He just likes to have them on the camera to look through.

Not even worth half it's price.
I bought this at Target for only 39.99 on sale. It is not even worth that. I takes terrible pictures. Changing resolution is not simple and the default setting is not suitable for viewing on the computer let alone printing at any size. The flash does not fire when needed most of the time. A low end regular camera for the same price is a much better option. My daughter at 3 can work our camera - there is no need for this toy - that is what it is - a toy - not a functional camera. If there is a way to add an SD card, I can't see it. On teh plus side the kids do use it. Unfortunately close to none of the pictures are salvageable even with editing in iPhoto.

Oh and here is how to change resolution:
Your camera comes set up to take normal quality pictures (standard resolution). If you'd like to take higher quality pictures (high resolution), follow these steps.
Press the image back and image forward at the same time and hold
Press the shutter release button You?ll hear a tone.
The high resolution icon appears on the LCD screen .
You are ready to take pictures in high resolution.
To change back to standard resolution, repeat this procedure.
Note: When you change batteries, the resolution resets to standard.
When reviewing pictures, images taken in high resolution will have
the high resolution icon shown on the LCD screen.

Simply Awful -- Stay Away
This product is so awful that it has prompted me to write my first Amazon review in over a year.

There are several different versions of Fisher Price cameras. Sloppy Amazon product information makes it impossible to know which one I'm reviewing (or which one you'll get if you purchase). My daughter's looks *exactly* like the one in the (current) product photos. Pink heart graphics. Round buttons. 4 AAA batteries in a plastic tray. No SD card. USB port behind the hinged battery door.

I haven't had problems with reliability, like some reviewers. The camera has "worked" the same since new. The photos are horrible. Worse than any cell phone camera. The flash is totally unpredictable. It eats batteries. Plan on putting four AAA batteries in it at least twice a week.

Since purchasing this piece of junk I've had the opportunity to play with a VTech kids camera. It's SO much better.

The later Fisher Price cameras may be better than this one, but be sure to steer clear of the one I've described here.

Great Transitional Camera
We purchased this camera for our granddaughter's 5th birthday. We got Amazon's Frustration Free packaging so we were able to put the batteries in the camera befor we gave it to her. She was so excited when she opened it. It fit her hands perfectly and with one quick explanation of the 3 main buttons she was taking pictures. The screen is large enough to actually see the picture clearly and the two view finders make it easy for her 2 year old brother to play with it as well. The camera takes decent pictures, it is easy to use and it is very sturdy. We feel like we got our money's worth on this one!
Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls

Future Photographer
I gave this to my daughter for Christmas because she is always begging for my digital camera and she loved it! She goes around the house taking pictures of any and eveything. It is easy for her as a 3 year old to operate (turn on and off and take pictures by herself).

My little one loved it!
This is perfect for a toddler. I got this for my 2 1/2 year old for Christmas. She loves it! The picture quality isn't great, but she doesn't care. It also keeps her away from my camera. IT holds over 50 pictures. She uses it all the time and I have found some great pics that I didn't know she took. I definitely recommend this for young kids.
