Good set, weak bottom
My son had a great time building this. It is the best lego set we have in terms of how much fun he had building it and playing with it. The base is just a little too weak for the size of the toy. Other than that it is a great product.

Star Wars Sandcrawler
My son loves this Lego set. He is mildly autistic and was able to put this together,mostly by himself, in 2 days. He is still playing with it. Next on the list is the Death Star!:)

It's good not only Star Wars' FAN but also children.
What a way to spend 2+ hours! The final product is really great to play with and has so many different things to do.

Challenging but not durable
My son wanted this toy for a long time. He finally got it for Christmas. He is 8 and it is recommended for 12+. He enjoyed putting it together and had it done in 2 days. I helped him a little. When it was done he wanted to play with it. The doors were too heavy and kept coming apart. When we tried to put it back together it would cause more things to fall apart. He eventualy got frustrated with it and played with the pieces separately.

Town Plan is terrific
This is a really nice Lego set. Makes a good size town with all kinds of buildings, people and vehicles to build. Although it is marked for the age bracket of 12-14 years old, my 8 year old grandson had the patience to tackle this. It takes some time to create, providing many hours of fun. When completed it is a good size, but not huge, so he was able to keep it set up to play with over and over again. Was very happy with this purchase.

Great purchase
It was a Christmas gift from grandpa to grandson. My son is eleven he love it. He put it together with the rest of the Lego city streets,police,pizza shop, etc. and plays for hours. This a great toy for any kid who likes to build and imagine. Its a lot of pieces and sticker to put together, its worth the time. The price was a little high but worth the price and the delivery was fast. No complain. Recommend

A must-have for any Lego town!
The Lego Town Plan is the coolest Lego set I've seen in years. This set is what helped me decide to collect Lego's again, after being a huge Lego Maniac back in the 1980's. I can't help but think about how much fun I would have had with this set as a kid.

What you get is well worth the money spent. We're not talking huge buildings here, but you really can't go wrong, and would be a great start (or addition) to any Lego Town. The retro design is so cool, it looks like they come right out of the 50's!

I'd say out of the three buildings, the gas station is the one with the most play value. The detachable gas pump island allows you to place the pumps anywhere, although it would have been cool to have them be more stationary so they aren't in the middle of the road...etc. The garage is cool, comes with a sliding garage door and a bunch of tools, as well as the car wash (only smaller cars will fit in the garage and car wash). The snack shop comes with food in a display case and cash register.

The movie theater also has incredible detail, from the "Cinema" sign and marquee out front, to the soda and popcorn stand on the inside. Plenty of room and comfy seats for at least 5-6 minifigs to catch the western playing on the big screen. I maybe would have designed the ticket booth out front a bit different, but that's neither here nor there.

The town hall has a cool outer facade, and the fountain is cool as well. I purchased a seperate green Lego base plate and put the town hall on one end of the plate, with the fountain in the middle, like a park. The interior of the town hall leaves something to be desired, but I think the outer facade is the best feature. The flowers do pop off quite easily, but it's no big deal.

The blue roadster that comes with the set is very cool as well. It's a tight fit for minifigs, but a very cool car indeed.

All told, a very cool set. If you aren't a fan of stickers, well, it comes with quite a few stickers. There are no pre-labeled pieces, so if you look at the set, anything with lettering you have to apply. But again, no big deal. Just time consuming if you're a perfectionist.

Again, worth the money. Your town just isn't complete without it!

Just what the city needed
This lego set was a nice challenge for our sons to build. The 8 year old could build most of it himself but needed a little help from older brother and dad. Great buildings, nice assortment of pieces, is definitely one of the favorite sets ever worked on as rated by the kids.

A great set for beginners & intermediate Lego builders
We really enjoyed putting this set together. My son is 10 and has a short attention span and some LD issues but he really wanted to do this. He had done a Star Wars set but it was too "fussy" for him. In the "Town Plan" they divide the parts into numbered bags for each building and related parts, but there is still plenty of time searching for parts--just not so much time that you get frustrated. We put the related parts on paper plates so they wouldn't keep getting bumped off the table. My son worked on this a little every night (I helped look for parts), and he could easily follow the page by page instructions himself. He liked building something that was a replica of the original and he got a lot of encouragement to continue from seeing each section completed. (It's a big deal for him to finish something.) Sorry the photo isn't very good; we want to make something with roads for underneath, and we bought an extra set of "Town" people to add to it because my son loves to play with it.

Big Hit Gift
My 9 year old niece is Lego crazy, and this was a birthday gift big hit. Great City series starter set to build onto.

The heart of the Lego City
After reading the other reviews here, my wife and I decided that the Lego City Corner would be the perfect larger size playset for our 4-year old son, a budding Lego enthusiast. The City Corner features a 3-story pizzeria (complete with oven, tiny wine glasses and pizzas), a bike and skateboard shop, a bus stop, a city bus and five minifigures.

Complexity: There are close to 500 pieces in this set, so it was by far the largest project we've attempted. Still, Lego's clear instructions and the fact that each major section's pieces were separately bagged made assembly a breeze. My son is still too young to really work the smaller pieces, but he built many of the larger elements, such as walls, windows, roofs and doors, and of course the minifigures are his domain. All told, it took about 90 minutes to complete.

Playability: This is by far my son's favorite Lego set. He's already spent hours with it, assigning names and roles to the figures, loading and unloading them from the bus, and arranging dinners at the pizzeria. Once we brought the City Corner together with his other Lego City vehicles, he had an even better time. It's an almost frustration-free set as well.

The Lego City Corner isn't cheap, but it is worth every penny. It's the perfect "next step" for kids who are ready to go beyond just the Lego vehicles, and it's also just a lot of fun to put together and play with.

great product!
We purchased this for my son's birthday. He put it together with some parental assistance and has played with it quite a bit. It goes well with the other Lego City products.

My Son is Now Addicted to LEGOS!
My 8 year old was kind of into LEGOS so long as he had assistance, but this kit inspired him to work solo. He loved creating each structure and is eager to build more parts of Lego City! Love how each building or bus is in its own bag - makes for quick play. The directions were easy for my son to do on his own. He is HOOKED. :)

Great Lego Addition To Our Collection
I bought this for my daughter who is building a Lego town. She really found it easy to build, except for the bus which was a little tricky. It is fun to sit the people in the pizza parlor at tables. Also, you can get the pizza lady to put a pizza in a little oven with a door that opens. On the second floor of the pizza parlor there are windows that open. There is a skate shop that sells skateboards and hats. It comes with a guy that has a helmet and skateboard, so you can ride him around the city. The bus stop has a bench area that people can sit on especially a little business man guy. The detail in this set is impressive. Lego has come a long way since I was a kid.

It's Legos....what more can yuo say?
No one has been able to put it completely together yet but they work on it together and area having a good time with it.

Save your money DON'T BUY
We own several legos star wars, clown wars, etc... kits. This one dos not stay together, the design is terrible, The wings keep falling off, the base is connected to the top part by a few pieces so the whole thing keeps getting destroyed. It looks good if you are just going to display it behind a glass display box, but if you intend your kid yo actually play with it forget it!

Great Gunship, but now too expensive
15 year old son review: I bought this set when it first came out in stores. I was pretty happy with the price and last month, i decided that i would attempt to purchase another. BIG mistake. Since they aren't sold in-store anymore, I looked at the ones on amazon. i was shocked that anyone could charge over 0 for a set that is smaller then a venator cruiser. bottom line: do NOT buy this off amazon. you can get two off the lego store if you preorder. if you have to have this set, try ebay or craigslist. i guarantee you can save over by doing this.

Gunship is Awesome!
My mother bought the Gunship for my 7 year-old son. Since he was younger than the recommended age on the box, my brother (his uncle) helped him put it together. They had hours of fun putting it together! The Gunship is on display in our son's room.

Mindstorms for the younger child
The box says 10+, but I am sure there are some other people with children younger than 10 who are interested in mindstorms.

I can definitely recommend mindstorms for children who are interested but some years under the recommended age. My six year old has had more joy from the mindstorms 2.0 than any other toy. At this age she builds robots from instructions rather than inventing her own robots and although she modifies programmes she has yet to create her own from scratch. However this growth of use should allow the set to be still entertaining as her abilities grow.

The set itself is restrictive though. The memory limitations show an update is really needed and some form of multiplexing to allow more sensors would really expand what can be created.

But a great purchase for 6-10 year olds who are over the conventional lego sets which often build only one thing and then they are of little further interest.

I think that this is the best toy ever. I got for my birthday and I`ve been playing with it everyday since. I would really recommend this to people who like Technic and power functions some places on the internet have free building instructions and pre-made programs to download. one of those places is [...].

I'm a seventeen year old girl and I love my robot :)
I first saw this product last week. I volunteered as a counselor at a math and science camp, and one of the workshops was robotics. They used the Lego Mindstorms NXT 1.0, and I absolutely fell in love with the little robots. Each group of kids had to engineer a robot to navigate an obstacle course, and because I was a counselor, I was supposed to just let the kids engineer and program the robot on their own, so I wasn't allowed to play with the robots on my own. However, I thought that they were so much fun that I came home and asked my dad to get me one for my brother (who is younger) and me.

The toy is a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it for young kids (ages 8+, for younger kids, adult supervision is highly recommended) who like to build things and see them work. Most of the lego diagrams are well done and easy to follow, but it is easy to make mistakes. However, what is nice about these kits is that there is room for error, and sometimes the toy will still work even if there is a missing piece. It allows for creativity and experimentation, which is more fun then just following a guide book.

I think that because I am older (17), the program was really easy for me to learn to use. Younger kids may have a more difficult time with it, but the program does come with "getting started" guides and there are instructions for programming the robot for the different designs it provides, which is really helpful for understanding how the program works (ie. the sensors, loops, switches, etc.). I gave the educational value a "4" because this is really graphical programming, geared towards younger kids. Fortunately, programs can also be written in C++ and Java, or so I have been told by my friends. :) So, potentially, there is a greater educational value for kids interested in computer science or programming. There are also people that are more advanced with programming, and they can program the NXT to solve a sudoku or a rubiks cube (you can look up videos on youtube.)

Also, the thing is, you don't really learn much "robotics," like the stuff they do on high school teams. But this is definitely a good product to get your kids interested in building and programming.

The legos are durable, as lego pieces are... Sometimes the power of each motor is not exactly the same, so you may have to compensate for the unevenness of the movement when doing the program. A minor drawback is that the NXT "brick" eats batteries like a monster, so be sure to have 6 AA batteries on hand when it runs low (and don't forget to turn off the brick when you're done playing with it!)

So far, I have built the shooterbot using the ultrasonic and light sensors, and they work beautifully. It's a lot of fun, and rather impressive when things work out just the way you want them to. I think that this would be a great birthday or Christmas gift.

Eats up batteries!
Well, as my son says, "It's Lego. All the Lego stuff is pretty durable." He does complain that it goes through batteries like crazy. He saved up a year to buy this toy - so of course he has no money to go buy rechargables and charger. Also, it takes 6 AA batteries - so would probably need two chargers or double set of 6 batteries. As I write this he has just informed me we need to go buy more batteries!!

My complaint as a parent is that it turned out this item was to be delivered while we were out of town for the weekend. I was concerned that UPS would just drop the package off on our front door even if we weren't home. Then my son would be out all of the money he had saved to buy this product. I tried to contact UPS and schedule a later delivery date by a couple of days but was told that I had to contact the sender. So, I contacted Amazon and they basically said there was nothing they could do. But they assured me that they have contracts with their shippers to not just drop off any items if nobody is home if said item costs more than 0, which of course this does. So we got home and found that my son's mindstorm had been left in front of our house behind our trash can! Luckily it was still there!

The product itself is pretty much what my son thought it was going to be and he loves it!

Awesome Robotics set
Bought this set to share with my 11 year old grandson. Wasn't sure that he would be able to handle it on his own so thought it could live at my house if he needed help with it. He took off when he opened the box. Started with one of the harder models and flew through assembly to get to the programming. Created the program as specified in the manual in a flash and then started to improvise on both the model and the program. Had a bit of trouble with debugging modifications to the program, but with some basic instruction on programming and debugging (my husband and I are both in the computer industry), we was independent in no time. The set went home with him and he is continuing to work with it. Great educational value, fun toy.
